My name is Opie.
I am a male sable coloured Shetland Sheep Dog (Sheltie) and was born in 2015. I was named after a character in the Sons of Anarchy tv show.
As a young pup, I had lots of energy. My Dad took me to Rally Obedience classes and we went to many trials. Sometimes I was easily distracted at these trials but eventually we earned a Masters title. After that I took some Tricks classes. I already knew quite a few tricks, but I loved learning more tricks. It didn’t take very long for me to earn a Champions Tricks title.
When I was 5, my Dad was thinking about retiring from his work and we heard about the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program. We joined the program in 2020.
After Covid had settled down a bit, we became actively involved, visiting at a hospital, personal care home, high school, the airport, businesses, conferences, and many other special events.
I love seeing the smiles on peoples faces and the squeals of delight when they see me coming. I provide comfort and compassion through pets, hugs and cuddles.
I also know how to work a runway, posing for pictures on request.
