My name is Wick, or that’s what my friends call me. My full name is Cassbar’s Spark to Flame, because I am a CKC and AKC Grand Champion show dog Shetland Sheepdog. Pretty fancy, right? Don’t let my numerous titles make you uneasy, I’m happy to be around just about everyone.
I’m named Wick because my human really admires the achievements of a person named Hayley Wickenheiser, you should look them up if you don’t know much about my namesake.
Since 2022 I have been a St John Ambulance Therapy Dog, visiting many places where people are struggling and helping them feel a little bit better. My favourite human calls this activity to “Wick at the darkness” on account of some famous song.
Before 2022 there was this worldwide event that stopped everything, otherwise I would have been a Therapy Dog sooner! I did freelance work in the meantime because nearly every time my human and I would go out for walkies, people would ask to meet and pet me and they would feel better.
In 2023 I went to Dauphin MB after there was a bad crash near Carberry and in 2025 I helped respond to the MB Wildfire Evacuations by visiting the Red Cross shelters in Winnipeg.
